About the event

“Removal” may sound like a simple word, but in American history it referred to the forced displacement of Native people from their homelands. Long before that period, the Little River watershed was an important travel and trade route for thriving Indigenous communities.

Join us as Susan Burns shares perspective on what came before and after this chapter in our region’s history. Drawing from her experience organizing the Rockhill Park powwows in the early 1990s, she reflects on the continued presence and resilience of Native communities in our area.
