Preserves Manager Job Description
Position Summary
The Preserves Manager is a part-time position responsible for developing and executing land management plans for LRWP nature preserves. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Essential Functions

Develop annual and multi-year management plans to control invasive species and improve biodiversity on LRWP nature preserves
-
Ensure development of, and compliance with, Compatible Use Authorizations, as required by DNR or NRCS, to ensure compliance with conservation standards.

Perform annual monitoring of conservation easement boundaries.

Work collaboratively with other LRWP stewardship staff and community volunteers to ensure land management plans are executed.

Assist with invasive species treatment and other restoration work.

Manage all third-party contract work

Assist in developing the annual restoration budget
Required Qualifications and Skills

Undergraduate degree or specialized training in natural resource management or a related field

Minimum of three years of restoration field experience, preferably in a wetland habitat

Minimum three years of experience in land management

Proficient in the use and maintenance of sprayers and light power equipment

Indiana Pesticide Applicator License, Category 5 preferred

Experience with GIS and GPS

Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment

Excellent oral and written communication skills
-
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite
Working Conditions

The work will involve a combination of office-based tasks and working in various weather conditions.

Ability to hike up to 2 miles and carry 30 pounds over uneven terrain
