Join us on March 12 for Breakfast on the Marsh as the Fort Wayne Zoo shares their work with the Help the Hellbender project. A partner since 2015, the Zoo has supported Eastern hellbender conservation through specialized care, research, and medical treatment, helping return hundreds of hellbenders to Indiana’s rivers. Enjoy breakfast, marsh views, and a look at how local partnerships are making a real impact.
Dr. Kami Alvarado is the Director of Animal Health & Conservation at the Fort Wayne Zoo and has been a veterinarian there since 2013. A graduate of Colorado State University, she developed a passion for amphibian conservation while working with Wyoming toads, which led to her involvement in the Help the Hellbender project since 2015.
