Saturday Hiking Club: 1–3 p.m., First Saturday of each month – enjoy a themed nature hike with CRC
Nancy Bradtmiller and other experts.

July 5 - “Butterfly Count” - Join us for the annual North American Butterfly Association’s  July 4th Butterfly
Count. All levels of experience needed to help count and identify butterfly and caterpillar species. Please meet
us at the Eagle Marsh barn.  

August 2 - “Butterfly Count” - Join us for the annual North American Butterfly Association’s  Butterfly Count. All
levels of experience needed to help count and identify butterfly and caterpillar species. Please meet us at
Arrowhead Marsh.  

Little River Ramblers: 9–11 a.m., Every Tuesday

We will meet at the Eagle Marsh barn off of Engle Road to explore and record the current flora and fauna.  
Make sure to dress for the weather.  See you there!


Breakfast on the Marsh: 8–10 a.m., Second Thursday of each month

Well-seasoned nature lovers (50+) join us for breakfast, a nature presentation, and an optional walk at Eagle
Marsh.  We meet at the Coventry Meadows Senior Community on W. Jefferson Blvd. at 8 a.m.  Please call
Nancy Bradtmiller at (260) 478-2515 or email crc@lrwp.org to reserve a spot as space is limited.

July 10 – “A Look Back at the Little River Wetlands Project” – Paul McAfee, LRWP co-founder and former
Executive Director will share his memories of Little River Wetlands Project with his photos and stories.

August 14 - " Connecting Communities with Trails" - Lori Keys, Executive Director of Aboite New Trails will
give a brief summary of ANT, their current progress and goals, and of course the Towpath


Exciting Events:

Monday, July 28, 7:00-8:30pm  
“The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” – Gary Moughler, US Dept. of Agriculture.  We will learn about our local
butterfly species, their habitat, and butterfly gardening. Emerald Ash Borer and Gypsy Moth concerns will also
be addressed.  Meet us at the Aboite Library, 5630 Coventry Lane, Fort Wayne in the large meeting room.

Wednesday, August 20, 7:00-8:30pm – “Sedges have Edges, Rushes are Round….”  Join Tim Skiver,
LRWP  Board Member and Earth Source, Inc. Wetland Specialist, on a night hike at Eagle Marsh.  Tim will
show us how to identify sedges, rushes, grasses, and other wetland plants.

Hoosier Riverwatch Testing
Saturday, July 12, 8am-Noon, Little River Valley
Help us analyze the water quality of the Little River. We will perform chemical tests, assess the habitat, and
determine the physical parameters at our four testings sites. You do not need experience, just a willingness
to help! Please meet at Sarah's Cafe in the Village of Coventry promptly at 8am if you wish to eat breakfast.

DIRECTIONS TO OUR PRESERVES:

To Boy Scout Office parking lot at Eagle Marsh – Turn off at Olde Canal Place Road (the Verizon Exit on W.
Jefferson Blvd.) and proceed to the end of the road.

To Eagle Marsh Barn - From West Jefferson Blvd., turn East on Engle Road.  Travel approximately 1/2 mile
and turn south on dirt drive.  Travel down the dirt drive to the red and tan barn.  

To Arrowhead Marsh - From U.S. 24 turn south on Redding Dr.  Aboite Road T's into Redding Dr., turn south.  
Arrowhead Marsh is on the east side of Aboite Rd. just past the chicken barn.  Park in the grassy lot adjacent
to the metal Arrowhead Marsh sign. Note: Arrowhead Prairie is closed to the public to maintain areas for
wildlife only.
