Arrowhead Properties
Little River Wetlands Project

Arrowhead Marsh (97 acres) and Arrowhead Prairie (91 acres), acquired in 2001 and 2002, are near Aboite,
Indiana. These small preserves were originally Native American hunting grounds converted in the 1800’s to
farmland.
The hydrology of Arrowhead Marsh was restored and native grasses, sedges, perennials, and trees planted to
achieve wetland and upland habitats between 2004 and 2006. The restoration of Arrowhead Prairie to grasslands
is also complete. Even though the new native plants are still becoming established, numerous wildlife including a
variety of birds, mink, muskrat, beaver, and turtles have already returned.
Visit our grassland and woodland trails at Arrowhead Marsh for hiking, birding, or nature photography!
